Laura Cantu is a multitalented artist and storyteller. As a child, she entertained herself by creating characters, drawing pictures, and writing storylines. Before becoming an author, Cantu stretched her creative muscles as a visual artist, practitioner of Oriental medicine, and ballroom dancer. Cantu has won six national titles in various ballroom dance styles and placed fourth in the Professional Argentine Tango World Championships.

In addition, the author has won rave reviews and a Goodreads’ book of the month award with her young adult fantasy novel, Xandria Drake: Ancient Rising. A truly creative individual, Cantu is on a mission to entertain, stimulate, and provide channels for healing to those around her. With future books pending release, Cantu continues to blog about her passions and dance as a hobby. She also enjoys spending time with her friends, family, and two dogs.

In Laura’s Own Words

LAURA ELF WITH BACKGROUNDSome call me a “Jack-of-all-trades.” Unlike the rest of the saying, however, I strive to be  “master-of-all” instead of “master-of-none.”

Actually, I consider myself to be an artist because I love to create. Whether I am writing, dancing, drawing, or relaxing, I revel in the creative process. I look at the world with an artist’s eye, finding beauty in the big things and grandeur in the tiny things.

On a formal note, I obtained a Master of Science in Oriental Medicine degree from Kansas College of Chinese Medicine. I am quite pleased of this accomplishment because it is the most difficult elective challenge I’ve ever tackled. Not only did I learn a complete system of medicine, I also discovered a culture that was totally different than my own. Additionally, the school was located three hours from my home. So I did a lot of driving while also maintaining my professional ballroom dancing career. Boy-oh-boy was it taxing! But not to worry, the experience actually opened my mind to a world of possibilities. The long drives gave me the opportunities to listen to heaps of audiobooks. Consequently, my initiation into becoming an author began.

Currently, when I’m not working on my next novel or blogging, I love dancing with my husband, spending time with my family, participating in holistic practices and studies, and playing with my two adorable dogs. I also meditate routinely, eat organic foods, respect nature, and recycle.

Enough with the formalities!  Let’s play!
