Laura C. Cantu
The empire kills female Keepers on sight. Riya is one.
She walks into the empire's dragon trial with a forged mark on her arm and a living heart-stone hidden in her chest. The bronze dragon in the ring wants her dead. The general's son is ordered to watch her.
For readers of Fourth Wing, A Court of Thorns and Roses and From Blood and Ash.
Every arm in the empire is bare. Hers is hiding something.
In the empire, everyone shows the inside of their right forearm, every day, for life. That is where the land leaves its mark, and where the empire burns its iron.
Riya has spent twenty-one years being superb at not being seen. Now she has to survive the branding table, a dragon who remembers far more than he should, and a man she already hates, without anyone noticing what lives under her skin.

Hi, I'm Laura
I write romantasy about dragons, magic and the kind of love you have to fight for. Before I was an author I was a professional Argentine tango dancer.
I share the behind the scenes of everything I'm making on my Substack, from The Amber Path to whatever comes next.
